Coming attractions

What do we expect to happen next?

 Here are upcoming events to look for:

  • MEPA litigation.  The case was filed in court in January 2005.  Rulings on various motions are pending before the Court as of July 2005.  We will notify via the email list. (For more information about MEPA and the lab, click here.)

  • Title VI Civil Rights complaint.  The complaint was filed with HHS in July 2005.  The timing of next steps is uncertain.  We will notify via the email list.

  • A City Council hearing on whether the bioterrorism laboratory will violate the Boston Public Health Commission regulation that prohibits recombinant DNA (rDNA) use requiring BLS4 containment.   Perhaps in fall of 2005.  We will notify via the email list.

  • NIH will release a Final Environmental Impact Statement for the bioterrorism laboratory as required by NEPA.  We expect it sometime in the summer of 2005.  We will notify via the email list. (For more information about NEPA and the lab, click here.)

  • Legislative Committee action on Representative Gloria Fox's legislation, House Bill # 1397/ House Docket # 4249, An Act to Protect the Public Health and Environment from Toxic Biological Agents.  We will notify via the email list. (Click here for more information about the legislation.)
