We are writing to share some important news with you. This spring Kalila Barnett will be stepping away from her role as Executive Director of ACE.
As Executive Director for the last eight years, Kalila has been instrumental in helping ACE secure major environmental justice victories, such as Boston's Diesel Emissions Reduction Ordinance, the state Environmental Justice Executive Order, and the Youth Pass, as well as moving ACE into work which fights the displacement of our people and the gentrification of our community. Throughout it all, Kalila has worked tirelessly to build power in environmental justice communities. Because of Kalila's dedication, devotion, and steadfastness, this is an exciting time for ACE, and we fully support Kalila as she embarks on the next step of her adventure. Kalila leaves behind an organization that is nimble, focused, and strong. She has had an enormous impact on environmental justice communities across the Commonwealth and especially in our home neighborhood of Roxbury.
As we move into this New Year, the Board of Directors is implementing a careful plan to ensure that ACE comes through this transition with grace and strength. The Board has appointed a transition team, with Board and Staff representation, to lead a search for a new Executive Director. We have hired a Search Consultant to manage the search, advise us, and identify candidates for this exciting role. Kalila will continue to serve ACE through the Spring. Later this month we will formally open the search and publish the position announcement widely. At that time, we will reach out to you again, and would appreciate you sharing the announcement with your network.
On behalf of everyone at ACE, we thank you for believing in our work and for your continued support. Kalila is well-loved by us all. We owe much of our success to her and wish her the best in all her future endeavors.
