The State of Gentrification: National Town Hall

Across the country (and world) gentrification and neo-liberal development are aggressively displacing entire communities, cultures and histories of people. These policies feature the destruction of public education, housing and community space; aggressive policing and mass incarceration that disproportionately targets black, brown, indigenous and immigrant communities; the eradication and erasure of cultural and neighborhood institutions; and the rapid expansion of private luxury development.

From small towns to mid-size and large cities the neoliberal political & economic model of gentrification is causing untold displacement and threatening the very existence of communities across the country and globe.

Our June episode of the Renter Nation Series will bring together thinkers, organizers, artists and visionaries for a nationwide discussion on the state of gentrification and efforts to fight back against displacement, global capital and the neoliberal model to chart an alternative vision for our cities and world.
